FEDERAL AID

Jenny Lea Academy is approved by the United States Department of Education to offer the following federal financial assistance programs whereby an eligible student is awarded a grant or loan for post-secondary education. To be eligible to receive financial aid, a student must be enrolled at least half time as a regular student.

These are awarded primarily on the basis of a family’s ability or lack of ability to pay for higher education. These funds are 100% federal and are available to all students in grant money as long as the student attends an eligible institution and qualifies. Complete your FAFSA using our school code to see if you are eligible at fafsa.gov.
All students must complete a needs analysis to determine eligibility and the amount of the loan.
Students can qualify for an Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan, regardless of need or family income. The student is responsible for interest during in-school and deferment periods. Interest rates vary.
This program enables parents with good credit histories to borrow for a student. A parent may borrow up to the cost of education minus any estimated financial aid per year. Repayment plus a variable market rate of interest is required, with monthly payments beginning sixty days after the loan has been disbursed.

STEPS IN COMPLETING THE FAFSA

STEP 1. Create an FSA ID

Go online to studentaid.gov. Set up an FSA ID Username and Password for your online application for federal student aid. If you are a dependent student (under age 25, single & have no children), your parent will also need to set up an FSA ID to fill out the financial aid application.

STEP 2. Gather Tax Information

Because most student aid is need-based, you will be asked to provide income, exemption, and taxes paid figures from your tax return. If you are a dependent student, your parent’s tax information will also be needed.

STEP 3. Fill out a FAFSA Application

Go to www.fafsa.gov. Applying for federal student aid is FREE. That’s why the application is called the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Be aware of scams and services that will search for financial aid for you for a fee.
Sign your FAFSA electronically with your FSA ID Username and Password.

Jenny Lea Academy also participates in the following federal programs:
